About This Course

Set a foundation of English grammar and vocabulary in these interactive and fun lessons that use the contexts of family, work and community. Strengthen your speaking skills through focused, structured practice that use conversational examples from native English speakers as well as texts from a global context. Enjoy course topics that center on making connections with others and sharing different international culture and interests in order to prepare you for communicating in a global marketplace.

Shoshanna Starzynski, M.A. TESOL

Shoshanna Starzynski is a Lecturer in Global Launch’s Intensive English Program, where she has worked with English language learners from countries all over the world. She has taught English as a Second Language (ESL) courses at all levels including English for specific purposes, English for academic purposes, and teacher training and train the trainer courses. She is a member of the Curriculum Development Team for Global Launch and is project manager for the Advanced Level courses, developing curriculum and managing a team of teachers. She has developed course material for a MOOC for English language learners, led courses for leadership programs for teens and adults from Brazil, and developed and led courses for teacher education courses in content and language learning for teachers from Peru. She is also a regular presenter on ESL education at state and international conferences. Ms. Starzynski came to Arizona State University with the international experience of teaching English in Poland, France, England, and the United States. She holds a Master of Arts in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages from Arizona State University as well as holding Cambridge’s Certificate in Teaching English Language to Adults and Certificate in Teaching English Language to Young Learners.

Dr. Shane Dixon

Dr. Shane Dixon is currently an online teacher for the largest TESOL certificate course in the world. His course, “Teach English Now!” received the first annual Learner First Award, an award given to the top performing course, out of 1,800, based on learner reviews and ratings

Dr. Dixon has designed teacher training programs for groups from China, Korea, Japan, Iraq, Peru, and Mexico, and has created language programs for companies such as General Electric (Brazil), LG (Korea), and Toyota (Japan). Most recently, Dr. Dixon directed two large scale projects, an English training program sponsored by Mexico , and a teacher training program sponsored by the Peruvian Ministry of Education. Dr. Dixon holds a doctorate in educational technology from Arizona State University and a masters in English language planning and policy from Brigham Young University.
